Al Hijamah

It is a therapeutic method in which a jar or cup is attached to the surface of the skin to cause local congestion. This is achieved by the creation of a negative pressure inside the cup via the introduction of ignited material into the jar to become local blood stasis, and then aspirate blood from the cup, to promote the circulation of qi and blood, induce an analgesic effect, subdue swelling and expel wind, cold and damp pathogens.
